Investment projects

The HIGHFIVE project is driving change and transformation in small and medium-sized (SME) food processing companies. With support from the Interregional Innovation Investment Instrument (I3), the project aims to catalyze green and digital transitions across Europe. Through three practical investment projects, HIGHFIVE seeks to set an example for cluster partners and food processing SMEs. The interregional innovation investment projects that are implemented within the HIGHFIVE project will serve as demonstration cases to other SMEs from the agri-food value chain and will provide valuable lessons learnt for future investment projects.

Mobile Cobots 4 Flexible Food Production 2.0

Monotonous and heavy work in the bakery makes it increasingly difficult to find employees. But traditional automation is too costly and inflexible when production only runs for a few hours a day. This project aims to overcome the challenge by installing mobile cobots in Marien bakery that can perform a range of tasks at various workstations.

Integrative data management system

The goal of this investment project is an end-to-end digitalised and sustainable production process (twin transition) including a near real-time reporting over the complete production process.

Computer vision and data modelling for resources optimalisation and waste prevention

The investment project will lead to reduced food waste and lower consumption of energy and water by food SMEs through the addition of existing sensor technology (including computer vision) and connectivity, and the application of data analysis (including AI) to turn the sensor and camera data into insights and actions.
